Gar Alperovitz is a professor of
Political Economy at the University of Maryland. A former Fellow of
King's College, a founding Fellow of the Harvard IOP, a Fellow at the
Institute for Policy Studies, and a Guest Scholar at the Brookings
Institution, he has testified before numerous Congressional committees
and lectures widely around the country. He is recognized as a key figure
in the revival of political canvassing and a strong proponent of
transforming ownership. He is a founding principal of the Democracy
Collaborative at UMD, on the board of Directors for the New Economics
Institute, and the author of several critically acclaimed books and
articles, including "Another World is Possible, America Beyond
Capitalism", and work on atomic diplomacy.
