Chris Hedges "Wages of Rebellion"

Journalist, author and war correspondent Chris Hedges spoke in Troy NY on Friday, May 29, 2015, part of the Spring 2015 season at The Sanctuary for Independent Media.

www.mediasanctuary.org

Chris Hedges, whose most recent book "Wages of Rebellion: The Moral Imperative of Revolt" (Nation Books) was published on May 15, 2015 is also the best-selling author of "War is a Force That Gives Us Meaning" (2003), a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. A quote from the book was used as the opening title quotation in the critically-acclaimed and Academy Award-winning 2009 film, The Hurt Locker. The quote reads: "The rush of battle is often a potent and lethal addiction, for war is a drug."

Revolutions come in waves and cycles. We are again riding the crest of a revolutionary epic, much like 1848 or 1917, from the Arab Spring to movements against austerity in Greece to the Occupy movement. In "Wages of Rebellion," Chris Hedges--who has chronicled the malaise and sickness of a society in terminal moral decline in his books "Empire of Illusion" and "Death of the Liberal Class"--investigates what social and psychological factors cause revolution, rebellion, and resistance. Drawing on an ambitious overview of prominent philosophers, historians, and literary figures he shows not only the harbingers of a coming crisis but also the nascent seeds of rebellion. Hedges' message is clear: popular uprisings in the United States and around the world are inevitable in the face of environmental destruction and wealth polarization.

Focusing on the stories of rebels from around the world and throughout history, Hedges investigates what it takes to be a rebel in modern times. Utilizing the work of Reinhold Niebuhr, Hedges describes the motivation that guides the actions of rebels as "sublime madness"--the state of passion that causes the rebel to engage in an unavailing fight against overwhelmingly powerful and oppressive forces. For Hedges, resistance is carried out not for its success, but as a moral imperative that affirms life. Those who rise up against the odds will be those endowed with this "sublime madness."

From South African activists who dedicated their lives to ending apartheid, to contemporary anti-fracking protests in Alberta, Canada, to whistleblowers in pursuit of transparency, "Wages of Rebellion" shows the cost of a life committed to speaking the truth and demanding justice. Hedges has penned an indispensable guide to rebellion.

Hedges, whose column is published Mondays on Truthdig, has written twelve books, including the New York Times best seller “Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt” (2012), which he co-authored with the cartoonist Joe Sacco. Some of his other books include “Death of the Liberal Class” (2010), “Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle” (2009), “I Don’t Believe in Atheists” (2008) and the best selling “American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America” (2008). His book “War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning” (2003) was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. In 2011, Nation Books published a collection of Hedges’ Truthdig columns called “The World As It Is: Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress.”

Hedges previously spent nearly two decades as a foreign correspondent in Central America, the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans. He has reported from more than 50 countries and has worked for The Christian Science Monitor, National Public Radio, The Dallas Morning News and The New York Times, for which he was a foreign correspondent for 15 years.

Hedges was part of the team of reporters at The New York Times awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 2002 for the paper’s coverage of global terrorism. He also received the Amnesty International Global Award for Human Rights Journalism in 2002. The Los Angeles Press Club honored Hedges’ original columns in Truthdig by naming the author the Online Journalist of the Year in 2009 and again in 2011. The LAPC also granted him the Best Online Column award in 2010 for his Truthdig essay “One Day We’ll All Be Terrorists.”

Hedges is a senior fellow at The Nation Institute in New York City. He has taught at Columbia University, New York University, Princeton University and The University of Toronto. He currently teaches prisoners at a maximum-security prison in New Jersey.

THE MYTH OF PROGRESS AND THE COLLAPSE OF COMPLEX SOCIETIES:
Fri, November 22, 2013 | 7:00 pm, CCIS, room 1-430

The naive belief in the myth of human progress, in endless material advancement and technological advancement, is a form of magical thinking. The very forces that allowed us to dominate nature, from the machine to the fossil fuel industry, are the same forces that, if left unchecked, will ensure our extinction. And yet, we cannot wrest ourselves away from our own creations as we ruthlessly exhaust and exploit a dying eco-system. This is how all civilizations vanish. The difference is that when we go down this time the whole planet will go with us. There will be no new lands to conquer, no new peoples to subjugate, no new resources to plunder. We must rise up in open revolt against the established systems of power that are herding us over the cliff or accept our death as a species.

CHRIS HEDGES: spent nearly two decades as a foreign correspondent in Central America, the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans. He has reported from more than 50 countries and has worked for The Christian Science Monitor, National Public Radio, The Dallas Morning News and The New York Times, for which he was a foreign correspondent for 15 years. He left the Times after being issued a formal reprimand for denouncing the Bush administration's invasion of Iraq.

David Graeber - Delivers a talk on 'indigenous' peoples.

LSE Terra Society was pleased to present David Graeber, who discussed some of the ideas set out in 'Fragments of an Anarchist Anthropology' as part of Indigenous Genius week at the London School of Economics.

Whilst Indigenous cultures are often labelled 'pre-capitalist' and 'pre-state' in popular understandings, we hope to explore how these societies, rather than representing an earlier stage of an inevitable progression, actively work to stop these forms from emerging.

We feel this offers an example of what we can learn from indigenous societies, and supports the case for valuing different epistemologies and therefore making provisions for them to exist, rather than assuming that everyone would, and should, rather join our capitalist state model of existence; particularly at a point when this model is proving so destructive.

Counter Intelligence | Part III - The Strategy of Tension

Shining a Light on Black Operations

This 5-part documentary is a great expose on the national surveillance state that has arisen over the last 50-100 years. Manipulating elections, overthrowing foreign governments, and secret assassinations are just a few of the heinous acts committed in the name of national security. Now that Edward Snowden has blown the lid off of the NSA's Prism snooping program, this film series is even more important and relevant.

Part 3: The Strategy of Tension
The Strategy of Tension examines the history of false flag operations used for war, propaganda and psychological operations--or 'psy-ops.' Operation Northwoods and Operation Gladio are examples used to illustrate the nature of clandestine operation planning and execution; as well as shedding light on the intent and extent to which the National Security apparatus manipulates events and manufactures outcomes to suit its goals. This programme also looks at the issues that spin off from the history of false flag operations--such as how conspiracy theories are used to discredit inquiry and investigative journalism; and also how the cultural preconditions around dismissing false flag operations serve to protect their continuation and 'plausible deniability.'

Lifting the Veil: Obama and the Failure of Capitalist Democracy

This film explores the historical role of the Democratic Party as the "graveyard of social movements", the massive influence of corporate finance in elections, the absurd disparities of wealth in the United States, the continuity and escalation of neocon policies under Obama, the insufficiency of mere voting as a path to reform, and differing conceptions of democracy itself.

Original interview footage derives from Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, Michael Albert, John Stauber (PR Watch), Sharon Smith (Historian), William I. Robinson (Editor, Critical Globalization Studies), Morris Berman (Author, Dark Ages America), and famed black panther Larry Pinkney.

Non-original interviews/lectures include Michael Hudson, Paul Craig Roberts, Ted Rall, Richard Wolff, Glen Ford, Lewis Black, Glenn Greenwald, George Carlin, Gerald Cliente, Chris Hedges, John Pilger, Bernie Sanders, Sheldon Wollin and Martin Luther King.

"Lifting the Veil is the long overdue film that powerfully, definitively, and finally exposes the deadly 21st century hypocrisy of U.S. internal and external policies, even as it imbues the viewer with a sense of urgency and an actualized hope to bring about real systemic change while there is yet time for humanity and this planet. Charles Lewis, Reporter; Founder, Center for Public Integrity; Author, 935 Lies: The Future of Truth and the Decline of America's Moral Integrity

Robert Rosenthal, Executive Director, Center for Investigative Reporting – Moderator

A government “of the people, by the people, for the people” assumes some sort of informed citizenry, but how many citizens feel accurately informed about what our leaders are up to? Unfortunately for citizens of the United States and throughout the world, distinguishing fact from fiction is more confusing than ever. In our present age, the line between truth and spin continues to blur dramatically. Addressing hot-button issues about the control, manipulation and misuse of information, Lewis reveals the many ways in which truth can be distorted by those groups and individuals wielding power.

Owned & Operated

Owned & Operated is a mosaic of the world through the lens of the internet. Showing our lives as consumers, under the thumbs of privileged individuals and their methods of control. But the world is awakening, and the experience is something outside the normal rules of social interaction, causing excitement in those who are not served by the current system... and fear in those who are pampered by it.

This documentary attempts to present these events using the video, audio and written content uploaded to the internet by the collective human consciousness comprised of every individual participant.

Oh yes, change is coming... and it will be more dramatic than anybody can imagine.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Imprensa:
▶ "É um filme inteligente sobre o estado do nosso mundo. Uma espécie de programa educativo, que tenta explicar como funciona o rendimento básico, quem o financia, e o que o poderia causar."
Mikael Krogerus, Brand eins
▶ "O filme 'Rendimento Básico' é muito mais que uma colecção de perguntas, respostas e argumentos. Podemos ver e ouvir vários testemunhos, há gráficos e tudo o necessário a um documentário que se preze, mas também há cenários utópicos e surpreendentes neste filme."
Michael Senn Hauser, Schweizer Radio DRS
▶ "O filme 'Rendimento Básico' desperta a curiosidade e convida a uma reflexão mais aprofundada. Uma lição de economia extremamente interessante"
Basler Zeitung
▶ "O filme deixa uma impressão profunda. Dá que pensar e convida à iniciativa pessoal. Ele remove o medo do desconforto da ideia. Ele acende um vivido interesse nos assuntos sociais e fá-lo dentro da nossa própria consciência. Um impulso cultural que ultrapassa o idealismo, um desafio!"
Nadine Aeberhard-Josche, Info3
TRANSITIONS FOR SOCIETY: JOB GUARANTEE AND BASIC INCOME
This film presents a huge social problem called technological unemployment. Whilst doing so, the film also presents two potential solutions to this major social issue. The transitional path described in the film concerns a transition towards a job guarantee program of environmentally sustainable, socially and scientifically beneficial jobs through a public service program organised by the government, coupled with an eventual transition towards an Unconditional Basic Income.
It is up to the viewer to decide on whether they see such a transitional path being a realistic consideration for governments around the world to think about.
Gladio in Spain, interview with Daniele Ganser
Daniele Ganser, author of NATO's Secret Armies. Operation Gladio and Terrorism in Western Europe interviwed by Tania Gálvez San José.
"Operation Gladio" (named after the after the Italian branch) was a network of NATO's stay behind-armies trained by western intelligence and military intelligence agencies to counter the possible communist/Soviet/ Warsaw Pact takeover of Europe after WWII.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operatio...
Elitist-criminal element within the structures of western governments, also called "deep state" or "shadow government", manipulated European politics by manipulating both left- and right wing radical groups to start political street wars and terror campaigns to steer western nations according to their agenda..
...which could be described as a "takeover by international bankers and industrialists". Some call this agenda the "New World Order".
The NATO stay behind army-networks had arms caches hidden all over European NATO-countries (also in non-aligned countries such as Finland, Operation Stella Polaris), and military explosives from these caches were used in some of the deadliest terror bombings in the cold war Europe.
To mention few of these cases:
Italian investigators discovered that the explosives used in '1972 Peteano carbomb' was C-4, and came from Gladio-arms cache, althou explosives expert for Italian police at first claimed the Peteano-exposives matched the kind used by left wing radicals, the Red Brigades.
Explosives used in 1980 'Bologna massacre', according to Italian parliamentary commission, also came from NATO. Liccio Gelli, headmaster of Italian lodge of Freemasons, Propaganda Due (P2) along with officers from Italian military intelligence SID/SISMI received sentences for slandering the investigation.
In West Germany, Peter Urbach an agent provocateur for the W-German domestic intelligence infiltrated leftist communes in the late 1960's and radicalized them by bringing them petrol bombs, timer bombs and fire arms, but also mind altering drugs.
CIA is known to have used mind altering drugs (LSD etc.) during their operations such as MKULTRA
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_...
Some of these left wingers, radicalized by W-German intelligence later formed militant groups such as the Red Army Faction, also known as Baader-Meinhof Group.
It is possible that Urbach, who brought Molotov coctails into leftist communes in the first place, also influenced Andreas Baader who, with his friends, fire bombed two department stores in Frankfurt, Germany, in April 1968.
Peter Urbach also supplied the timer bomb used by Tupamaros West-Berlin in the failed bombing of Berlin's Jewish Community Center in November 1969.
There apparently is a connection between the 1980 Oktober Fest bombing to neo-nazi leader Heinz Lembke, who is believed to have been member of the German Gladio branch. Lembke was found dead (hanging) in his prison cell day after he lead investigators to over 30 arms caches.
These arms caches were most likely Gladio caches. The area where these caches were hidden was mentioned as one of the rendez vous-areas for the German Gladio-network in documents from 1950's. But the" official version" is that Lembke received these weapons from neonazi sympathizers in the German military.
Dr. Daniele Ganser Interview : NATO's Secret Armies - Operation GLADIO
MP3 & SHOW NOTES: http://themindrenewed.com/interviews/... Our guest this week is Swiss historian Dr. Daniele Ganser, author of the seminal book NATO's Secret Armies: Operation GLADIO and Terrorism in Western Europe, who joins us for a fascinating (though at times unsettling) conversation on the subject of Operation GLADIO.
Shortly after WWII a Europe-wide network of secret armies was organised under the aegis of NATO, tasked with providing military and intelligence resistance in the event of a feared Soviet invasion. Modelled on the resistance movements of the war years, many of these "stay behind" units remained faithful to their original mandate. But by the early 1960s - under the pressures of anti-communist politicking and flirtations with the Far Right - some of these groups began to morph into something more sinister, linking up with extreme right-wingers who carried out acts of false-flag terrorism, harassment of left-wing parties and coups d'état.
But was this morphing simply an unforseen consequence of the unaccountability and instability of the network itself? Or was it, at least in part, engineered by the very Anglo-American establishment which gave birth to the project in the first place? And to what extent, therefore, can such acts of terror be seen as manifestations of 'the strategy of tension', carried out by the State against its own citizens for the purposes of control at home and geopolitical gain abroad? (We also discuss: Operation Northwoods, the so-called War on Terror, 9/11 and the recent Charle Hebdo attacks.)
MP3 & SHOW NOTES: http://themindrenewed.com/interviews/... What is the so-called "Greek Debt Crisis"? Is it simply the result of economic mismanagement by the Greek people and their successive governments, or is there more to it than meets the eye?
Joining us to answer this question, we welcome once again Dr. Paul Craig Roberts (former US Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy), who explains that the crisis is not fundamentally about debt at all, but rather the playing out of a strategy by the financial and political elites to establish two main principles: the looting of European countries by the "One Percent", and the systematic destruction of their national sovereignty.
We also discuss the Iran Nuclear Deal and the recent address by UK Prime Minister David Cameron on "extremism" (described by Glenn Greenwald as "one of the creepiest and most authoritarian speeches you'll ever hear.")
Paul Craig Roberts 2015 : Washington's Path to War with Russia
MP3 & SHOW NOTES: http://themindrenewed.com/interviews/... Dr. Paul Craig Roberts (former US Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy) returns to the programme for an extended interview on the ongoing tensions between Washington and Moscow.
Drawing upon his extensive experience in government, academia and journalism, Dr. Roberts explains how Washington's current hostility towards Russia, with its demonisation of Vladimir Putin, is a bitter fruit of the neoconservative ideology of world hegemony that came to dominate US centres of power from the early 1990s onwards. Assessing the geopolitical landscape with an eye to historical, economic and political realities, Dr. Roberts judges there to be only two hopes for the world to avert nuclear Armageddon: a Europe decisively resistant to Washington diktat, or economic collapse of the US empire itself.
We also discuss the murder of Boris Nemtsov, prospects for Washington-agitated colour revolutions in Central Asia/Caucasus, MH17 and the growth of the police state in the US.
The Alternative To Neoliberalism
My talk at the European Parliament to the conference "Peripheral debts: Causes, consequences and solutions: 2 July 2015". I argue that progressive politicians need a complete alternative to Neoliberal economics, which is basically a First Year Economics textbook re-written as a political manifesto.
Steve Keen: The Deliberate Blindness Of Our Central Planners
Full description and comments at: http://www.peakprosperity.com/podcast...
The models we use for decision making determine the outcomes we experience. So, if our models are faulty or flawed, we make bad decisions and suffer bad outcomes.
Professor, author and deflationist Steve Keen joins us this week to discuss the broken models our central planners are using to chart the future of the world economy.
How broken are they? Well for starters, the models major central banks like the Federal Reserve use don't take into account outstanding debt, or absolute levels of money supply. It's why they were completely blindsided by the 2008 crash, and will be similarly gob-smacked when the next financial crisis manifests.
And within this week's podcast is a hidden treat. Steve's character exposition on Greek Financial Minister Yanis Varoufakis. Steve has known Varoufakis personally for over 25 years, and is able to offer a window into his constitution, how his mind thinks, and what he's currently going through in his battle with the Troika for Greece's future.
97% owned present serious research and verifiable evidence on our economic and financial system. This is the first documentary to tackle this issue from a UK-perspective and explains the inner workings of Central Banks and the Money creation process.
When money drives almost all activity on the planet, it's essential that we understand it. Yet simple questions often get overlooked, questions like; where does money come from? Who creates it? Who decides how it gets used? And what does this mean for the millions of ordinary people who suffer when the monetary, and financial system, breaks down?
A film by Michael Oswald, Produced by Mike Horwath, featuring Ben Dyson of Positive Money, Josh Ryan-Collins of The New Economics Foundation, Ann Pettifor, the "HBOS Whistleblower" Paul Moore, Simon Dixon of Bank to the Future and Nick Dearden from the Jubliee Debt Campaign.
Nomi Prins: The Sinister Evolution Of Our Modern Banking System
Full Description and Comments at: http://www.peakprosperity.com/podcast...
Today, the 'revolving door' connecting our political and financial systems is evident to anyone with eyes. But this entwined relationship between Washington DC and Wall Street is nothing new, predating even the formation of the Federal Reserve.
To chronicle the evolution to where we find ourselves today, we welcome Nomi Prins, Wall Street veteran turned financial industry reformist, and author of the excellent expose All The Presidents Bankers.
In this well-detailed interview, Nomi goes into depth of the rationale and process behind the creation of the Federal Reserve, and more important, how its mandate -- and the behavior of the banking system overall -- metastasized into the every-banker-for-himself regime of sanctioned theft we now live with.
Audiobook All the Presidents' Bankers by Nomi Prins
Who rules America?
All the Presidents’ Bankers: The Hidden Alliances that Drive American Power
is a groundbreaking narrative of how an elite group of men transformed the American economy and government, dictated foreign and domestic policy, and shaped world history. Culled from original presidential archival documents, All the Presidents’ Bankers delivers an explosive account of the hundred-year interdependence between the White House and Wall Street that transcends a simple analysis of money driving politics, or greed driving bankers, or bankers controlling governments. It presents the shocking genealogy of American power.
Prins ushers us into the intimate world of exclusive clubs, vacation spots, and Ivy League universities that binds presidents and financiers. She unravels the multi-generational family, blood, intermarriage, and mentor-protégé relationships that have confined national influence to a privileged cluster of the same people who recycle their power through elected office and private channels in Washington, D.C.
All the Presidents’ Bankers sheds new light on pivotal historic events—such as why, after the Panic of 1907, America’s dominant bankers convened to fashion the Federal Reserve System; how J. P. Morgan’s ambitions motivated President Wilson during World War I; how Chase and National City Bank chairmen worked secretly with President Roosevelt to rescue capitalism during the Great Depression while J.P. Morgan Jr. invited Roosevelt’s son yachting; and how American financiers collaborated with President Truman to construct the World Bank and IMF after World War II.
Prins divulges how, through the Cold War and Vietnam era, presidents and bankers pushed America’s superpower status and expansion abroad, while promoting the broadly democratic values and social welfare at home. But from the 1970s, Wall Street’s rush to secure Middle East oil profits altered the nature of political-financial alliances. Bankers’ profit motive trumped heritage and allegiance to public service, while presidents lost control over the economy, as was dramatically evident in the financial crisis of 2008.
This unprecedented history of American power illuminates how the same financiers retained their authoritative position through history, swaying presidents regardless of party affiliation. All the Presidents’ Bankers explores the alarming global repercussions of a system lacking barriers between public office and private power. Prins leaves us with an ominous choice: either we break the alliances, or they will break us.
All the Presidents' Bankers - Nomi Prins
The longstanding relationship between Wall Street and the White House has often been described as a "revolving door," with both camps benefiting from the connection. All the Presidents' Bankers: The Hidden Alliances that Drive American Power offers an inside look at the political and economic web spun between these two giants. Journalist Nomi Prins traces the history of this partnership, from the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1907 to bankers' influence on politics after the financial crisis of 2008. A former Wall Street executive, Prins unravels the Ivy League schools, fishing trips, marriages, and job offers that thicken these ties each year. By recycling power and keeping it "in the family," Wall Street and the White House have become mutually beneficial entities, working together to shape national — and international — politics. According to Prins, these ties have had devastating consequences and the time has come to break them before it's too late.
A Precariat Charter: A Progressive Agenda for Today’s Dangerous Class - Guy Standing
A Precariat Charter: A Progressive Agenda for today’s Dangerous Class
Inequality is and always has been about class. Globalisation, technological changes and the neo-liberal economic model have combined to generate a new global class structure, in which the largest rapidly growing class is the precariat. Mired in insecurities, this can be defined in terms of distinctive relations of production, distinctive relations of distribution and distinctive relations to the state. It is a class-in-the-making, not yet a class-for-itself, and it is a dangerous class because it is internally divided into three factions and because all three are rejecting the mainstream political establishments.
What is needed is a new progressive agenda that could unite enough of the components of the precariat and offer the hope that the precariat could become strong enough to force the state to abolish the conditions that define its existence. This talk will outline a Precariat Charter, consisting of policies and institutional changes that would strengthen the precariat’s freedom, reduce the chronic insecurity that it faces and redistribute the key assets in order to shape a Good Society for the 21st century. The presentation will draw on a recent book, A Precariat Charter: From Denizens to Citizens.
Guy Standing is Professor of Economics at SOAS, University of London, and was previously Professor of Economic Security at the University of Bath and Professor of Labour Economics at Monash University in Melbourne. Before that, he was Director of the ILO’s Socio-Economic Security Programme (1999-2005) and Director of the ILO’s Labour Market Policies Branch.
An economist, with a Ph.D. from Cambridge University, and a Master’s Degree in industrial relations from the University of Illinois, he is a founder and co-President of the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN), an NGO promoting basic income as a right, with members in over 50 countries. He has been adviser and consultant to many international agencies, including the UNDP, UNICEF, World Bank, European Commission and DFID, as well as many governments and trades unions. In 1995-96, he was research director for President Mandela’s Labour Market Policy Commission, when he co-authored, with John Sender and John Weeks, Restructuring the Labour Market – The South African Challenge.
War, Media Propaganda and the Police State - Prof. James F. Tracy
Modern propaganda techniques utilized by the corporate state to enforce anti-democratic and destructive policies routinely entail the manufacture and manipulation of news events to mold public opinion and, as Edward Bernays put it, “engineer consent” toward certain ends.
Such events include not only overt political appeals, but also acts of seemingly spontaneous terrorism and militarism that traumatize the body politic into ultimately accepting false narratives as political and historical realities...
The Trail of the Troika (Greek Version, HD 1080p) | A must-see to understand the situation in Greece
What is happening in Europe in the name of the troika? A must-see for anyone who wants to understand the situation in Greece. The European Union and International Monetary Fund have lent more than 400 billion Euros to Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Cyprus to keep these countries solvent. The lenders granted enormous power to the three institutions of the so called troika: the IMF, the European Central Bank and the European Commission. Without any public accountability, the troika is forcing the crisis states to implement policies that are tearing the social fabric of their countries apart. German journalist and best-selling author Harald Schumann travelled to Athens, Lisbon, Dublin, Nicosia, Brussels, Washington, New York and London, in order to find out who has actually benefited from austerity measures. He puts this question to ministers, parliamentarians, economists, bankers, doctors and also to the victims of these policies, the unemployed and the ill. Among the many people we meet are Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman, IMF Director Paulo Batista and Yanis Varoufakis, the newly elected Greek finance minister. Schumann's revelations are often devastating and shocking. Given the negotiations currently taking place between the newly elected Greek government and their European partners, this film is of great political and economic relevance.
The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation, F. William Engdahl
F. William Engdahl is an American German freelance journalist, historian and economic researcher. "Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation" This lecture at the Open Mind Conference 2013, focuses on how a small socio-political American elite seeks to establish its control over the very basis of human survival, the provision of our daily bread. Control the food and you control the people. This is no ordinary lecture about the perils of GMO.
Engdahl takes the audience inside the corridors of power, into the backrooms of the science labs, behind closed doors in the corporate boardrooms and reveals a World of profit-driven political intrigue, government corruption and coercion, where genetic manipulation and the patenting of life forms are used to gain worldwide control over food production. The lecture is based on Engdahls book "Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation" which is an eye-opener, a must-read for all those committed to the causes of social justice and World peace.
